Abstract

529,456. Valve circuits for wireless reception. HAZELTINE CORPORATION. May 26, 1939, No. 15760. Convention date, July 13, 1938. [Class 40 (v)] A pentagrid valve 13, having a virtual cathode formed between the second and third grids and having substantially no transconductance between the third grid and the second and fourth (screen) grids, is used as a duplex amplifier, signal frequencies being fed to the first grid and taken off from the screen grids to a mixer valve 17, and the intermediate frequencies being applied to the third grid and taken off from the anode. Automatic-volume-control potentials may be applied to the first grid controlling both stages and to the third grid controlling only the I.F. stage, or either control may be used separately.
