Abstract
632,162. Valve amplifying circuits. SUBMARINE SIGNAL CO. Aug. 22, 1946, No. 25070. Convention date, Sept. 4, 1945. [Class 40 (vi)] In a wideband amplifier having thermionic valves with screen and control grids, the screen controls amplifications of the lower frequencies and the grid is capacitively coupled to the screen and provides control for the higher frequencies. As shown, the input stage 1 is a cathode follower of the push-pull type, the output of which is applied to grids 3 and 4 of the amplification stage 2. The anodes 5 and 6 in stage 2 are directly coupled to the screens 9 and 10 respectively and coupled through capacitors 15 and 16 to the grids 13 and 14 respectively of the pentode valves in stage 3, additional wide-band amplification being provided by stage 4. The amplifier is stated to have a substantially flat response over a very wide frequency band with a negligible phase shift.
