Abstract
526,825. Centrifugal steam separators. BABCOCK & WILCOX, Ltd. March 24, 1939, Nos. 9287 and 9288. Convention dates, April 30, 1938, and May 27, 1938. [Class 23] [Also in Group XIII] A number of centrifugal separators 11 in a steam and water drum 8, Fig. 7, of a water tube boiler each consist of a cylindrical chamber having a tangential inlet 8 for the steam and water mixture from an upcomer or connector or from a steam economizer, a water outlet which discharges into the water space of the drum or through a tube 9 into a downcomer, and a steam outlet opening into the steam space of the drum or into the steam outlet from the drum. The separators 71, Fig. 11, receive the steam from a high pressure space 76 formed in a drum by a partition 77 over the upcomers 73. A separator with a tangential inlet 136, Fig. 17, receiving a number of steam connectors has a steam outlet provided with a corrugated plate separator 138 and an annular water outlet 141 provided with fins 139.
