Abstract
782,782. Forced-flow steam boilers; steam separators. SIEMENS - SCHUCKERTWERKE AKT.-GES. July 18, 1955 [July 16, 1954], No. 20743/55. Classes 123(2) and 123(3) In a forced-flow, once-through steam boiler comprising an evaporating section consisting of series-connected tube banks, a separator is interposed in the connection between successive banks whereby the steam-water mixture produced in each individual bank can be separated, the steam passing to a superheater whilst the water flows on to the next bank. The separator consists of a cylindrical shell 1 into the upper part 6 of which steam generating tubes 2 discharge tangentially. Separation occurs in the zone 6, water flowing down through an annular space between the rim of a plate 5 and the shell into a zone 7 whence it flows through perforations 10 into a pipe 9 connecting to the next tube bank. Steam flows into a pipe 8 and upwardly into a main 4 leading to a superheater. Means are provided whereby the steam flow in the main 4 is controlled according to the proportion of steam in the incoming steam-water mixture, this ratio determining the water level in the separator and hence the level of a float 15 controlling a valve 16 in the main 4.
