868,720. Water-tube steam boilers. ROSSI, G. June 27, 1957 [June 27, 1956]. No. 20281/57. Class 123(2) A steam generator comprises a combustion chamber bounded by contacting generating tubes A which extend between a lower header D and an upper header C which is connected by risers 5 to the steam and water drum (not shown), the headers C, D also being connected by a group of downcomers B which may be disposed in a second gas pass. Circulation occurs between the headers as indicated by the arrows and steam separates in the upper header thus allowing the main drum to be made of smaller size. In Fig. 4 the drum is replaced by a collector - separator F consisting of a number of horizontal tubes interconnected by short transverse tubes. The generating tubes A<SP>1</SP> discharge into a header C<SP>1</SP> which is connected to the top of the collector F by a riser 5<SP>1</SP> and to an intermediate header E by downcomer tubes B<SP>1</SP>. The downcomers B<SP>1</SP> also connect the header E with the lower header D<SP>1</SP> whilst the lower part of the collector F is connected with the header E by tubes 8. In Fig. 5 a combustion chamber G is formed between tube assemblies of the form shown in Figs. 2 and 4, feedwater being supplied to the lower headers D<SP>11</SP> through a pipe 9 and to the drum F" through a pipe 10.
