[Class 123 (ii)] The steam and water collector of a water-tube locomotive boiler is formed of transverse rows of vertical tubes 1 connected to upper and lower transverse headers 2, 3 opening at their ends into upper and lower longitudinal headers 5, 6. The water tubes 10, 12 at the sides of the firebox are connected to the lower transverse headers and to bottom drums 9, 14. External downcomers connect the lower longitudinal headers to the lower drums.
