Abstract

526,784. Sealing closures for containers. BURKARDT, A. F. April 29, 1939, No. 12862. [A Specification was laid open to inspection under Sect. 91 of the Acts, Nov. 14, 1939.] [Class 125 (iii)] In a sealing closure for milk bottles and like containers, imperforate cover and closure elements 10a and 11a in Fig. 4, are secured together by adhesive to enclose a permanent airtight cushion, of which the flange 15 is cylindrical or slightly conical, and slightly larger than the mouth of the container, so that when forced m by pressure, the cover and closure elements are domed and press the flange 15 against the container wall. Various modifications are described in which cover or closure element or both are extended to cover the lip of various containers with or without seat formation, and forms for use in combination with independent hood covers. In particular in the form shown in Fig. 11, the cover element 10a is extended to form a pleated skirt 10b<SP>1</SP>, 10c round the neck of the bottle, secured by a frangible tape 30 and extended to form a tab 10c<SP>1</SP> for opening.
