Abstract

1,025,364. Container closure. MAUSER KOMM GES. Dec. 19, 1962 [Jan. 15, 1962], No. 47879/62. Heading B8T. A jar of plastics material has a plastics lid comprising a downwardly curving domed disc-like portion 5<SP>1</SP> surrounded by a cylindrical or approximately cylindrical portion 5 fitted with an interference fit in the jar mouth, the lid being retained by a ring 1 which has a flange 4 for holding down the lid and is provided with abutment means having a radial cross-section like that of a ratchet tooth and engaging downwardly facing shoulder means on the outside of the jar neck. As shown, the abutment means and shoulder means are rims 2 and 9 on the ring and jar respectively. To open the jar a loop 7 on the lid is pulled to release the lid from under the flange 4. To reclose the jar the lid is inserted with a flange thereof above the flange 4. A tagger paper may be inserted between the lid and the flange 4 before the jar is opened. In a second embodiment, the abutment means and shoulder means constitute an irreversibly selflocking bayonet joint.
