A screw stopper assembly for a container 1 comprises an annular insert having a flange 2 positioned within the container and a cylindrical portion 3 provided with a screw thread 4 and terminating in a frusto-conically flared portion 5, a ring 7 extending around the flared portion and terminating in a flange 9 parallel to the flange 2, and a screw stopper 6. The assembly is rendered liquid-proof by gaskets 10, 12, and 14. A cover 13 is provided and a perforated tab 16 thereon may be tied to a similar tab 15 on the ring.
