Abstract

812,580. Container closures. BAARN, P. S. VAN. Oct. 4, 1957 [Oct. 5, 1956], No. 30477/56. Class 125(3). A closure device of plastic includes a lid portion 48 formed integrally with a skirt portion 40 which embraces the container neck and a tear strip consisting of a wire 44 embedded in the skirt by means of which the skirt 40 may be separated into two parts 46, 47 except for a narrow lug 41 forming a hinge for the upper part. In a modification, Fig. 3, the lid 48 is replaced by a plug 49 and a lip 50 facilitates lifting of the plug. In another modification, Fig. 4, a hinge part 51 interconnects parts 46, 47 and a rib 44 forms a tear strip having a tab 45, the upper skirt part 47 being flanged at 53. In a further modification, F'g. 11, perforations 13b define between them a tear strip 14b and a still further modification, Fig. 14, has a wide anchoring band 71, a plug 54 and a lip 59 which engages the bead of the bottle mouth.
