Abstract

1,194,116. Bottle closure. J. NIEDERER. 27 June, 1968 [6 July, 1967], No. 30791/68. Headings B8D and B8T. A bottle closure comprises two members 1, 2 integrally joined by a shoulder 20 provided with a weakening groove 7, the top member 1 being removable from the lower member 2 by tearing along the weakening groove. The lower member 2 is provided with annular beads 4, 5 which are engageable over associated beads on a bottle neck to be closed. When the upper member 1 has been torn off, a pouring lip (17) is formed, Fig. 3 (not shown), and a sealing lip (18) provided against the end of the bottle neck. The upper member may be provided with ridges 8 and may also be so dimensioned that the smallest diameter of the upper member 1 is at least as large as the diameter of the bottle neck opening. The bottle may not be reclosed therefore after the upper member 1 has been torn off. The closure may be formed integrally by injection moulding of plastics material (e.g. polyethylene). Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 1,130,234.
