Abstract

1,179,129. Container closures. M. B. STULL. 9 Oct., 1967, No. 46046/67. Heading B8T A captive closure is formed by the combination of the neck 10 of a container 12 and a screw cap 22 having a portion 30 which forms a seal in the neck and is joined integrally to the top wall 36 of the cap by ribs 38, so that when the cap is unscrewed sufficiently to break the seal, the container contents may flow out through the neck 10 and between the ribs 38. The cap is held on the neck by a bead 26 which engages a bead 24. A bead 32 on the portion 30 becomes temporarily embedded in the material of the neck 10 as shown. In a modification, Fig. 4 (not shown), the top wall (50) of the cap has a semicircular opening adjacent a cap extension (52) which forms a. spout; or the cap may have openings (42b), Fig. 6 (not shown), forming a generally circular outline. The closure parts may be of polyethylene.
