Abstract

1,181,048. Container closures. Z. M. ROEHR. 26 Nov., 1968 [18 Dec., 1967], No. 56073/68. Heading B8T. A tamperproof closure, e.g. of polypropylene or polyethylene, has a lower skirt 7 joined to the side wall 3 of the closure by means of bridges 9 between which are gaps (11), Fig. 3 (not shown), through certain of which project tongues 23 formed on a container 13 to which the closure is applied. In order to open the container the closure has to be rotated thereby causing the tongues to shear the bridges 9. The closure is assembled on the container by downward pressure causing a part 25 to slide over the tongues, both the lower skirt 7 and the tongues yielding resiliently until the tongues enter the gaps 11. The bridges 9 may be unequally spaced; and one bridge may be so positioned that it is not sheared. Again, Figs. 5-8 (not shown), a screw cap having similar features may be applied to a container having a pair of hookshaped tongues (30) on its neck.
