Abstract

1335075 Safety closures L C AFFLECK 19 April 1971 [25 May 1970 8 July 1970] 23023/71 Heading B8T A plastics or metal container closure 7 has a pin (not shown) which engages a groove 20, comprising extensions 19, 23, in a container neck. A resilient pad or spring 12, which abuts a sealing pad 13, provides axial force, thereby engaging the pin in a large indent 24 or a smaller indent in extension 19, giving alternative safety locking and simple locking facilities. In a modification the extensions 19, 23 are at the same or different level extending in opposite directions. Fig. 6 shows an alternative safety locking groove configuration. A constriction 8A in a groove 26 at position 28 allows a pin to initially pass to indents 29. Subsequent removal requires the pin to travel along a groove section 25. In further modifications only one groove extension is employed and the groove may be on the cap, the pin(s) being on the container neck.
