Abstract

1302201 Container closures MAKAP Ltd 2 Jan 1970 [7 Jan 1969] 918/69 Heading B8T A container and closure, which may be childproof, is opened by a combination of rotation and downward translatory movement. The closure comprises a top 13 and a sealing skirt 32. The top of the container has edges (40) and (35), Fig. 2 (not shown), which engage a Y- shaped formation 33, 34 at the end of the skirt 32. A securing formation 18 is carried by the wall of the container; a lug 16 and resilient blade 17 are formed on the closure member. In order to open the container, the lug 16 must be first lifted over a pip 30, then over stop 24 and stop 25. The lug 16 is forced against the formation 18 by the action of the resilient blade 17 on humps 31 of the formation 18. Thus in order to remove the closure from the container, the closure must be first rotated bringing member 16 into contact with stop 24, then pressed in order to release lug 16 from stop 24, then rotated again until lug 16 is in contact with stop 25 and again pressed to release lug 16 from stop 25. The resilient blade 17 may be replaced by or used in conjunction with a camming surface (51), Fig. 9 (not shown).
