Abstract

1326919 Container closures W BLAU 2 Dec 1970 [3 Dec 1969] 57248/70 Heading B8T A closure comprises upper and lower parts 1, 2, the lower threaded part 2 containing a seal 4. Between the parts is a drive plate 3 having lugs 3<SP>11</SP> slotting into grooves in a lower skirt 2<SP>1</SP>. Resilient tongues 3<SP>1</SP> project from the plate 3 into a hollow grip portion 1<SP>1</SP>, rotation of which turns the whole cap until, at a predetermined torque, the tongues 3<SP>1</SP> disengage. Reversed rotation reengages the tongues 3<SP>1</SP> in the grip 1<SP>1</SP> and enables cap removal. In further embodiments, spring loaded balls (14), Fig. 3 (not shown), projections (18), Fig. 6 (not shown), and a spring loaded disc (23) on a screw plug, Fig. 11 (not shown) are used as coupling means. Also a second plate (16) Fig. 8 (not shown) has tongues (16<SP>11</SP>) which engage the grip 1<SP>1</SP> and a further tongue (16<SP>1</SP>) which resiliently bears on the drive plate 3.
