Abstract

1441270 Tamper-proof closure BOWATER PACKAGING Ltd 20 Aug 1973 [7 May 1973] 21582/73 Heading B8T A container 5 and closure 1 twist fit together by engaging parts of screw threads 6 and 4 which form external and internal lugs respectively on the container 5 and closure 1. The container has a radially extending tab 7 integrally hinged to the container along a weakening line B-B. The closure is push fitted on to the container so folding the tab down against the container wall, then twisted so that lug 4 rides over the tab 7, which is wedge shaped in section Fig. 3 (not shown), until the lug 4 fully engages the lug 6 and simultaneously disengages the tab 7. Subsequent removal of the closure requires the tab 7 to be torn off of the container, along the line of weakness B-B so providing a tamper-proof closure.
