Abstract
526,633. Hairdressing comb and curler. ROLLOCURL CORPORATION. March 23, 1939, No. 9181. Convention date, Oct. 26, 1938. [Class 131] A hairdressing tool is provided at one end with an ordinary comb, and the other end, forming a comb handle, comprises a hollow mandrel upon which the hair is curled, the mandrel having a longitudinal slot from which an insert with comb teeth is adapted to be projected for securing the lock of hair to be curled and to be retracted to enable the curl to be slid off the mandrel. The insert 16, having a reinforced backing 17 and teeth 18, a pin-like extension 19 fitting into slots 13, 14 and a thumb piece 20 opposite a slot 21 open at the rear to facilitate removal of the insert, fits into a slot 12 in the mandrel 10 serving as a handle for the comb 11. The insert 16 is engaged by a spring 24 tending to project it from the slot 12, but is held in its extreme position by a pin 15 engaging slots 21-23 on the end of the insert 16 and by the pin 19 at the other end engaging the recesses 13, 14 respectively. A hairpin 36 may be provided, one shank of which passes into the mandrel through an extension 30 having an engaging spring 34.
