COMBINED COMB AND NAIL FILE Filed Jan. 29, 1946 IN VEN TOR. I
Alexa/2 d 611E Stargye ATTU RN EYS Patented Apr. 4, 1950 UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE 1 Claim. 1
This invention relates to combs constructed to fully perform its function as a comb, while at the same time affording means for carrying additional toilet articles such as a brush, fingernail file, tweezers, hair curling pig tails and two nail picks.
An object of the invention is to provide a toilet article which by a simple compact kit of implements will aid the user to perform an almost complete toilet.
Another object of the invention is to provide a device that is simple, efiicient, durable and economical to manufacture.
With the above and other objects and advantages in View the invention consists of the novel details of construction, arrangement and combination of parts, more fully hereinafter described, claimed and illustrated in the accompanying drawing in which:
Figure 1 is a View partly in elevation and partly in section of an embodiment of the invention;
Figure 2 is a view partly in plan and partly in section thereof;
Figure 3 is a view partly in plan and partly in section of the various parts of the device;
Figure 4 is an enlarged sectional view on the line 4-4 of Figure 1;
Figure 5 is the same on the line 5-5 of Figure 1;
Figure 6 is the same on the line 65 of Figure 1; and
Figure 7 is the same on the line 'i'! of Figure 1.
Referring more in detail to the drawings the reference numeral [0 designates a curved comb body having a recess 12 in the head thereof to receive a brush l4 which is provided with extended edges 16 to rest in seats l8 in the comb head.
A finger nail file 20 is permanently seated in a recess 22 in the comb I0 and extends into the handle 24 which is bifurcated at 26 to receive the reduced portion 28 of the comb and lugs 30 on the portion 28 are received in seats 32 in the end 25 of the handle 24 to detachably position the handle on the comb.
The handle 24 has a removable end 34 in which is provided a pair of tweezers 36 and the handle is recessed at the end thereof as at 38 to frictionally receive the tweezers. The frictional engagement of the tweezers 36 in the recess 38 serves to retain the end 34 in place since such end is fixed to the tweezers. On the side of the handle inclined slots 40 are provided to receive the nail picks or cleaners 42 and when assembled the handle can be used as a pig tail for curling the hair. In Figure 3 the handle 24 is shown in detached relation to the body of the comb and when the handle is completely removed from the nail file 20 the file may be used in the conventional manner.
It will be seen therefore that a compact-toilet kit has been combined in a comb body and since the use of the various parts are obvious it is believed that further detailed description of the various parts is not necessary. It is to be understood however, that change in the details of construction, arrangement and combination of parts may be resorted to without departing from the spirit of the invention or the scope of the appended claim.
Having thus described the invention, what is claimed as new and desired to be secured by Letters Patent is:
A device of the character described, comprising a comb body, a recess in said body at the rear thereof, a handle having a recess therein, a nail file permanently fixed at one end in said first recess, the other end of said file projecting outwardly of the recess in said body to extend into the recess in said handle whereby said handle is supported by said file in juxtaposition to said body, and means for removably connecting said handle to said body to expose said file for use.
