L rnAivorszEK kooien, or DAYTON, omo,
'COMBINATION COMBAND BRUSH.
Applicatin med July 17, i920. serial'y m1392095. r
i T 0 all 'whom t may concern Be it known that I, FRANoIsznK KUCAB, a citizen of Poland, residing at Dayton, in the county of Montgomery and State of Ohio, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Combination Combs and Brushes, of'jwhich the following is a specication. l f Y The mainobject of'this invention is the provision of a combined comb and brush in a singleV unit, the comb being readily brought into position for use `or concealed,
Another object of the invention is the provision of a novel, quick and reliable-acting mechanism forthus movingV said comb,
into position for usev or into concealed position. 4
The above and other objects of the invention will become apparent in the description below, in which characters of reference refer to like-named parts in the drawings.
Referring briefly to the drawings, Figure l is a view of the underside of my device, part of the frame thereof being removed.
F ig. 2 is Va side elevational view of the same, partly in section. Y
F ig. 3 is a view of the underside of the and the latter' of two similar members 2 and 2b. A channel 3 extends through part of Vsaid handle and communicates with av relatively wider channel 4; in the body 2.
A slot 6 is provided in the handle 2 co1nmunicating with the channel 3, and a pin,
or button 5 extends through said slotv and Yrests slidably therein. A member 7 is slid'- ably mounted in the channel Sand extends into the channel 4, j said member :being loosely attached to the button 5. A. bend or hump 8 is provided near the `end of the member 7, and a spring 9, attached to the bottom of the channel 3, presses upon said member 7 adjacent the hump 8.
Pivotally mounted at 11 in' the channel 4 is an eccentric disk 10 having the memkber 7 pivotally attached near the periphery thereof. An arcuate slot is cut parallel to the periphery of said disk, and therein lies a pin 14 in slidable relation. Said`pin 14;

is rigid witha comb `15 'slidably mounted between guides 16 inthe body 2.Y Brushes- 17 are attached in the usualmanner to the Y portion 2a of thebody 2.' v Y lThe operationvof the device is Vnow ob-v vious. Inorder yto extend the comb l5, thel button 5 is pressed forward (toward the brush portion) whence the lrotating disk .lO forces the pin 14, and consequentlythe comb l5, outward from the body-2. In ordervto f conceal the comb, ythe button isfpressed inl the reverse direction.
The engagement between the springt) and the hump 8 of the member 7 causes'the comb l5 to be releasably I claim: Y
l. A device of the class described comprising a frame, achannelin said frame, a comb slidably mounted in said frame, a disk eccentrically and pivotally mounted in said channel, a pinon said comb, an arcuate slot.
near the peiiphery'of said disk, said pin. having slidable engagement in said slot,.a slot in said trame having communication with saidy channel, abutton slidable in'said vretained in either second-named slot, a member having one end slidably mounted in said Vchannel and,
'the oth'er-endpivotally attached to said disk near the periphery thereof, said button havingloose, connection with said member, and
spring means releasablyV etaining said comb o in either of its-extreme positions.
2. A device of the class described comprisinga frame, achannel in said iframe,
comb slidably vmounted in said frame, a disk eccentrically and lpivfotally mounted in said channehapin on said comb, an arcuate slot near the,V periphery kot said disk, said pin having vslidable 'engagement' in said slot, a slot in said frame having communication with said channel, a button slidable insaid second-named slot, a member having one end slidably` mounted in said channel' and the other pivotally attached to said vdisk near the periphery thereof, said button having loose connection with said member, a spring vhaving oneV end attached tosaid frame with-` in said channel, a hump in the slidable vend of said member, said springadapted to press upon said slidable end and to retain said member releasably in either extreme l position. f
