ATTORNEY UNITED STATES IAZIMIERZ SULEK, OF THORPE, WEST VIRGINIA.
TOILET IMPLEMENT.
Specification of Letters Patent. Patented Ma 21 1922 Application filed October 5, 1921. Serial No. 505,492.
1 '0 aZZ who mz't may concern:
Be it known that I, Ksznnnnz SULEK, a citizen of Poland, residing at Thorpe, in the county of McDowell and State of West Vin ginia, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Toilet Implements, of which the following is a specification.
The salient object of the invention is to provide a compact and comparatively simple toilet implement in which the various parts cannot be misplaced.
Other objects and advantages will appear in the following description, taken in connection with the drawing and forming a material part of the disclosure, in which Figure l is a front elevat-ional view of a toilet implement made in accordance with the invention.
Figure 2 is a side elevational view of the same.
Figure 3 is a fragmentary view with certain parts in operative position.
Figure is a fragmentary perspective view of the same with the cover removed and the various parts in other position.
Referring to the drawings, the numeral 10, represents a backing member carrying brush tufts 11 on one side and in the opposite face is framed a mirror 12, retained in position by an annular ring M secured by screws 15.
The backing member 10, at its lower ei:- tremity, forms a handle 17 containing a recess 19 and a cover 18 over the recess, secures between itself and the handle body 17 a hair comb 20 and a button hook 21.
The comb may be placed in a usable po sition, either by inserting the thumb nail into a groove 22 and rotating the comb on the pivot 2% until it is in a. position as shown in Figure 3, or by pressing on the handle end 25 of slidable rack 26, the screw 27 and slot 28 permitting this slidable movement. The rack engaging with the segmental gear 80 on the pivoted end of the comb 20, it is readily seen that the comb 20 will swing in an are about its pivot 24; into the position shown in Figure 3.
In the same manner the comb 20 may be returned to its housed position bv pulling the handle end 25 of the rack 26. U I
The button hook 21 may be placed in ope-rative position by applying the fingers at 31 and rotating the button hook on its pivot 32.
The pivots 2a and 32 may be made so as to form securing members for the cover 18 to the handle 17.
Although the foregoing is descriptive of the preferred embodiment of this device, it is understood that changes in the form, arrangements, proportions, sizes and details may be made without conflicting with the scope of the invention as defined in the appended claims.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure bv Letters Patent, is u 1. In a toilet implement, in combination with a backing plate having brush tufts on one face and a mirror on the opposite face, said plate having a recess at one end, of a comb pivoted in the mentioned recess, at the outer end thereof, a bar slida-ble longitudinally in said plate adjacent the recess, a head on said bar by which it may be operated, teeth on one edge of said bar, and means on the pivotal end of said comb co-operative with said teeth whereby said comb may be rotated into operative position.
2. In a toilet article, a backing plate having a recess at one end, a comb pivoted in the mentioned recess, a segmental gear at one end of said comb, a sliding rack en gaging said gear, and means for guiding said rack. v
In witness whereof I affix my signature.
