I LIPSTIQK DEVICE I Filed may 1e, 195o 2 sheets-sheet 2 7 lnvenlor y Patented Nov.I 25, 1930 JOHN scnmGEoUn, or ToneN'ro, ONTARIO, CANADA Application led May 16,
rl-he present invention relates to a lip stick device and has for its prime object to, provide means whereby lipstick may be applied to the lips of a person to impress on the lips a perfect impression with accuracy and with a minimum of effort.
A further important object of the inven- Ation resides in the provision of a device of this nature which is exceedingly simple in its construction, inexpensive to manufacture, durable, easy to manipulate, and thoroughly efficient and reliable in use and operation.
, With the above and numerous other 0bjects in View as 4will appear as the description proceeds, the invention resides in certain novel features of construction, and in the combination and arrangement of parts as will be hereinafter more fully described and claimed. f
In the drawing: Y Figure 1 is a perspective view of the device with the cover removed, Figure 2 is a perspective view of the cover, Figure 3 is an end elevation of the device with the cover removed,
Figure 4 is a front elevation ofthe device with the cover removed, v
Fi re--flv is a transverse section taken sub-A stantially on the line 5--5 of Figure 4,
Figure 6 is a front elevation of the device with the cover removed and with the lipstick material removed,
Figure '7 is a .lon itudinal section taken substantially on the l1ne 7--7 of Figure 4,
Figure 8 is a perspective view of the follower plate, and Figure 9 is a fragmentary rear elevation of the 'device showing particularly the handle and the plunger knob.
Referring to the drawing in detail it will be seen that the numeral 5 denotes a casing, the front end of which is open, and this casing is formed in simulation of the formation of a persons lips. A stem 6 is slidable through the center of the back of the casing and has a knob 7 on the outer end thereof and a follower plate 8 on the innen end thereof. This follower plate asis indicated in Figure 8 has a contour in conformity with the shape of the casing. A divider plate 9 is LIP-STICK DEVICE 1930. serial No. 452,964.
mounted across the front of the casing longitudinally. Lipstick material is disposed in the lcasing in front of the follower plate 8 e and of course is divided by the plate 9 as it is forced forwardly by pushing in on the knob 7. i
A hollow handle 11 projects from the back of 'the casing circumjacent the stem 6 and the knob 7 so that this handle may beheld between two fingers and the knob pushed with the thumb in applying the lipstick.
A cover l2 is provided for the casing and spaced to telescope thereover. With this device it will be seen that an imprint or impression is left on the lips which is shaped properly and always the same. There is nothing about the device which is apt to become out of order and therefore the'life thereof is indefinite and of course the d ice may be manufactured very cheaply a din any desired material. l
fIt is thought that the construction, 'operation, utility and advantagesof this invention will Vnow be quite apparent to those skilled in this art without a more detailed description thereof.
The present embodiment of the invention has been described in detail since in actual practice it attains the features of/advantage enumerated as desirable in the statement off the invention and the above description.
It will be apparent that changes in the details of construction, and in the combination and arrangement of parts may be resorted to without departing from the spirit or scope of the invention as hereinafter claimed or sacrificing any of its advantages.
y Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new is:
'1. A device of the class described compris-` ing a casing shaped in simulation of the human lips, a follower plate in the casing shaped similar to the casing, means for moving the follower plate, a divider plate across the casing at the open front end thereof and Vextending longitudinally.
2. A device of the class described compris;
ing a casing shaped in simulation of ther ing the follower plate, a divider plate across the casing at the open front end thereof and extending longitudinally, a cover fshaped similarly to the casing to telescope thereover.
3. A device of the class described comprising a casing shaped in simulation of the human lips, a follower plate in the casing shaped similar to the casing, means for moving the follower plate, a divider plate across the casing at the open front end thereof and extending longitudinally, a .cover shaped similarly to the casing to telescope thereover, a hollow handle extending from the rear of the casing circumjacent the means for operating thc follower. 4. A device of the class described, comprising a casing shaped in simulation of thc human lips, a lip-stick substance of transferable nature held in said casing and having its full surface exposed at one side of the easing, and means for progressively forcing the lip-stick substance out of the casing so that the entire exposed surface thereof may be brought into direct contact with the lips of the user.
5. A device of the character described comprising a lin-stick com-posed of a section of a transferable lip-rouge, the effective transferable surface of which has an outline simulating that of the human lips, said surface being adapted to be directly pressed against the lips of the user, and a holder for the lipstick.
6. A lip-stick comprising a block of liprouge of sufficient consistency to maintain the shape of the human lips, one face of said block being adapted to be pressed directly against the lips, a holder for said block ,embracing the same and means for forcing the block out of the holder to fully expose the entire face of the block for direct application to the lips.
In testimony whereof I aix my signature. A a
JOHN SCRIMGEOUR.
