Elmhurst, N.Y. Filed Sept. 30, 1953, Ser. No. 764,323 2 Claims.- (Cl. 132-887) The present invention relates to an applicator for a painted eyebrow shape which permits of easy application of any predetermined eyebrow shape.

It is known to use eyebrow stencils which are equipped with an aperture of any predetermined shape and thus permit eyebrows to be painted by the use of such single stenciling device. It has been found, however, that such stenciling devices did not provide an accurate contour of the eyebrows upon application and, in addition, required a brush, pencil, or the like for painting the eyebrows through the stencil.

It is, therefore, one object of the present invention to provide an applicator which is connected with a pad holder, which carries a pad soaked with eyebrow fluid, so that upon engagement of the pad with an embossed portion of the applicator, the eyebrow fluid -is applied to the top face of said embossed portion, whereupon the pad holder with the pad is removed into an operative position and the eyebrow painting may be applied to the face of the user. It is to be understood that the embossed portion of the applicator will vary in accordance to the desired shape and will be of a different shape for each user of the applicator.

It is another object of the present invention to provide two applicators which are preferably hingedly connected with each other and each of the applicators has such embossed portion of a predetermined desirable shape. The pad holder is secured to the same hinge which connects the two applicators and thus may be turned first to one of the applicators to apply the paint fluid to the embossed portion of one of the applicators and, upon application of one of the painted eyebrows, the pad holder is turned to the embossed portion of the other applicator to be turned again into an operative position, whereupon the other eyebrow painting is applied.

It is still another object of the present invention to provide an applicator which includes means for interchangeably and removably receiving a pad containing the eyebrow fluid.

With these and other objects in view, which will become apparent in the following detailed description, the present invention will be clearly understood in connection with the accompanying drawings in which:

Referring now to the drawing, the applicator for a painted eyebrow shape comprises two applicator members 1 and 2 which are preferably of plastic or any other suitable material and which have a straight end portion 3 at the inner end and a substantially pointed end portion 4 at its outer end. Each of the applicator members 1 and 2 is equipped with an embossed portion 5 of a predetermined configuration and formed exactly to the desired shape of the painted eyebrows when applied by the user.

Both applicator members 1 and 2 are hingedly connected at the inner straight portions 3 by means of a convenice tional hinge member 6, so they may be turned upon the axis of the hinge member 6 which is substantially parallel to the straight inner edge portion 3 of each of the applicator members 1 and -2, which arrangement permits a completeoverlapping of both applicator members 1 and 2' in an inoperative position or they may be turned into operative position upon the hinge member 6 by turning the same substantially into the same plane.

A pad holder 7 is hingedly connected to the same hinge member 6 to which the applicator members 1 and 2 are secured, so that the pad holder may be turned upon said hinge member 6 either over the embossed portion 5 of the applicator member 1 or over the embossed portion 5 of the applicator member 2.

The pad holder 7 is formed as a longitudinal frame defining openings 8 on both sides thereof and is equipped with a longitudinal slot 9 provided on the top face 10 of the pad holder 7. A pad 11 is retained in the framelike padholder which pad may be inserted through the slot 9 thereof. The pad 11 is made of a material capable of retaining a large quantity of fluid and in particular, of eyebrow liquid, normally used for application of painted eyebrow shapes.

Upon turning the pad holder 7 towards the applicator member 1. upon the axis of the hinge member 6, the pad li'will transfer some of the eyebrow fluid on to the outer face of the embossed portion 5 of the applicator member 1. The pad holder 7 is then turned into a position in which it substantially engages the other applicator memher 2, in which position the left painted eyebrow shape of the user may be applied to the face by touching the hat embossed portion 5 of the applicator member 1 on the skin of the user by a slight pressure action thereto.

In the same manner, the right eyebrow fluid is applied to the right eye of the user by engaging the pad 11 with embossed portion 5 of the second applicator member '2, and upon turning the pad holder 7 into a position close to the applicator member 1 the embossed portion 5 of the applicator member 2 may be brought in touching position with the skin of the user and the right eyebrow thereby be applied.

In non-operative position, both applicator members 1 and 2 may be brought into engaging position with the pad holder 7 and its pad 11, respectively, to assume a position as clearly shown in FIGS. 2, 3 and 6.

While I have disclosed one embodiment of the present invention, it is to be understood that this embodiment is given by example only and not in a limiting sense, the

scope of the present invention being determined by the objects and the claims.

Iclaim:

1. An applicator for painted eyebrow shapes comprising two sheet-like applicator members, a hinge member connecting said sheet-like applicator members upon an axis extending through the planes of both said applicator members, so that each of said applicator members can fold upon the other, each of said applicator members having an embossed portion projecting therefrom and of a configuration identical with the area and shape of the painted eyebrow to be applied over the left eye and over the right eye, respectively, to the face of a person, and means for applying eyebrow fluid to the outer face of each of said embossed portions.
