(Cl. 13279) The present invention has the purpose of creating an applicator for eyelash make-up enabling the make-up to be spread on the latter by means of a circular brush.

It also has the purpose of making the applicator in the shape of a rigid or flexible rod, threaded and grooved.

According to one modification, the rod terminates in an end having forks or hooks acting to correct the application of the make-up and to separate the eyelashes.

According to another modification, the gripping part is formed by a distortable tube containing the make-up. According to still another modification, means are provided for conveying the make-up of the distortable tube into a lengthened spout forming a brush or threaded rod and for distributing the make-up along the peripheric surface of this spout.

Other purposes, characteristics and advantages of the invention will be revealed by the detailed description which follows.

The applicator is essentially formed by a threaded rod 1 (FIGURE 1) having a stem 3 which can be inserted in a handle 4.

In FIGURE 1, the end of the rod 1 terminates in a part forming a fork 5, 6.

In the alternative form of FIGURES 2 and 3, the threaded part terminates in a three-pronged fork 7, 8, 9.

In FIGURES 4 and 5, the threaded part 1 of the rod is extended by a hook-shaped head having three forks 10, 1t)", 10".

FIGURE 6 shows an applicator I inserted in a tube 11 containing the make-up for eyelashes.

FIGURE 7 shows the instrument ready for use.

This applicator enables make-up to be put on the eyelashes 11 of a user, by causing the eyelashes to pass into the spaces of the threads of the threading 1, and thereafter the forked end 5, 6 with three prongs 7, 8, 9, or hook-shaped 10 can be used for retouching certain eyelashes not covered with make-up; for separating eyelashes that have stuck together; and for carrying out other operations.

In FIGURE 8, the distortable tube 51 has a threaded 3,237,630 Patented Mar. 1, 1966 F ICC neck 52 on to which the tapped boss 53 of a spout 54 having duct or channel 55 is screwed. The spout termi-.

nates in two horns 56, 57 and which can be covered by a closing cap 58.

The liquid or pasty make-up in the tube 51 is expelled by pressing in the usual manner on this tube, with cap 58 in place whereupon the make-up passes through the duct 55 and emerges towards the horns 56, 57 and will flow along the spout.

In FIGURE 9, the tapped boss 53 is integral with a spout 64 having a threading 61 on to which the cap 68 screws. This spout also has a duct 65 and end horns 66, 67. Application takes place by turning the threaded spout against the eyelashes.

In FIGURE 10, the tapped boss 53 is integral with a spout 74 with longitudinal duct 75 which is intersected by lateral holes 76. This spout also has two end horns 66, 67.

In FIGURE 11, the threaded boss 83 is integral with a spout 84 having longitudinal flutings 86 and two end horns 87. This boss has holes 88 connecting the longitudinal flutings provided on the surface with the interior of the tube 51.

In FIGURE 12, the milled boss 93 is integral with a short spout 94 with end horns 97 intended to be covered by a cap 98.

The spouts made according to the invention may act as make-up applicators. In the case of FIGURE 8, the make-up emerging between the horns 56 and 57 can be brought on to the external surface of the spout 54 which acts as applicator on the eyelashes. The make-up, when tube 51 is pressed, flows from the tube through channel 55 to the tip end of spout 54 and then backwardly inside cap 58 along the outside of spout 54.

In the case of FIGURE 9, the make-up emerging between the horns 66 and 67 will also flow along the threading 61, when the tube 51 is pressed, the tube and spout then being manipulated so that the eyelashes are coated with make-up owing to the eyelashes passing into the threading of this threaded spout 64.

In FIGURE 10, it is only necessary to press on the tube to force out the liquid or pasty make-up, not only at the end between the horns 67, but also through the radial holes 76, the make-up coming out being spread through the grooves or threads of the spout which is used as an applicator.

In FIGURES 11 and 14, the spout 84 has threaded ribs having longitudinal ducts 86 between them. The product emerging from the tip end of the :spout when the tube is pressed will be spread on the spout for it to be used as an applicator.

The spout may be made of various materials, such as metal, ebonite, synthetic materials or the like.

With the applicator according to FIGURES 1 to 7, eyelash make-up can be used in all its usual forms, either in tablets, cream or liquid, for it is easy to coat the threaded part with these various products.

This applicator can be used with all commercial makeup containers and can be combined with all suitable cases for holding make-up. Its threading has a tendency to separate the eyelashes instead of making them stick together as brushes do; its envelops the eyelashes entirely with delicacy up to their extreme tips and curves them in a very attractive manner.

When the applicator has been coated with make-up, it is placed on the top eyelashes, then made to go along the eyelashes from the bottom towards their ends while revolving the applicator between the thumb and first finger in the direction taken for winding a watch. For the bottom eyelashes, one proceeds in the same manner while placing the applicator on the top of the eyelashes and revolving it in the opposite direction.

The fork or single or multiple hook made at the end of the applicator facilitates numerous retouching operations, more particularly at the ends of the eyelashes and in the corners of the eyes, inaccessible to ordinary accessories, such as brushes, flexible pincers, etc. Actually, folding objects (long or pointed pincers) or those with large surfaces (brushes or fiat pincers) do not possess the necessary accuracy, and on this account, run the risk of smearing instead of correcting. The applicator assembly of the present invention ensures a complete and perfect application of the make-up on the eyelashes and does away with the need of using brushes, pincers, pencils and other accessories, while effecting a more speedy making The fork or other end of the rod may also be used for drawing make-up lines, more particularly on the eyelids, or on the eyebrow regions.

The applicators according to FIGURES 8 to 14 enable the make-up to be conveniently spread on the eyelashes without being encumbered with an additional instrument. It is obvious that a distortable plastic tube may be sold in the commerce in combination with a series of interchangeable spouts which are used according to the treatment to be applied to the eyelashes.

-I claim:

1. An applicator for eyelash make-up comprising: a collapsible tube adapted for containing make-up and having a neck at one end with a discharge opening, an elongated spout fixed to said neck and having circumferential ribs on its external surface and a longitudinal duct leading to its outer end from said discharge opening, said duct supplying make-up to said ribs on said spout to serve as an applicator for the make-up with said tube serving as a handle for manipulating said spout. said spout having a tip formed by a plurality of diverging, longitudinally extending projections beyond said ribs and the outer end of said duct to serve as a distributor for said make-up after application by said ribs.

2. An applicator for eyelash make-up comprising: a collapsible tube adapted for containing make-up and having a neck at one end with a discharge opening, an elongated spout fixed to said neck and having circumferential threads on its external surface and a longitudinal duct leading to its outer end from said discharge opening, said duct supplying make-up to said threads on said spout to serve as an applicator for the make-up with said tube serving as a handle for manipulating said spout, said spout having a tip formed by a pair of diverging, longitudinally extending projections on its outer end on opposite sides of said duct and beyond the outer end of said duct and said circumferential threads to serve as a distributor for said make-up after application by said threads, passage means extending from said duct to said threads on said surface to supply make-up directly to said threads, and a cap threaded on said threads and serving to confine said make-up to said threads and said projections.

3. An applicator for eyelash make-up comprising: a collapsible tube adapted for containing make-up and having a neck at one end with a discharge opening, an elongated spout fixed to said neck and having circumferential threads on its external surface and a longitudinal duct leading to its outer end from said discharge opening, said duct supplying make-up to said threads on said spout to serve as an applicator for the make-up with said tube serving as a handle for manipulating said spout, said spout having a tip formed by a pair of diverging, longitudinally extending projections on its outer end on opposite sides of said duct and beyond the outer end of said duct and said circumferential threads to serve as a distributor for said make-up after application by said threads, a plurality of passage means extending laterally from said duct to said threads on said surface to supply make-up directly to said threads, and a cap threaded on said threads and serving .to distribute said make-up on said threads.
