6 Claims. 1
This invention relates to a cosmetic receptacle and more particularly to a receptacle designed to closely unite various cosmetic articles, for example a mechanical eyebrow pencil, a lipstick brush, a lipstick, a bottle for perfume or other liquid and a nail file.
It is the general object of my invention to provide a vanity ensemble in a light, convenient, attractive and compact form.
It is also an object of my invention to closely unite the above mentioned or similar cosmetic articles into a unit, whose outward appearance, shape, form and size substantially correspond to those of a fountain pen. It is also an object of the invention to provide a unit of this type, in which a nail file is attached to the cap in the manner of a clip or clasp fastened to the cap of a fountain pen or the like, though with a hingelike construction.
A further object of my invention is to provide an ensemble in which the individual cosmetic articles can be simply replaced, if necessary, for example, by replacing the eyebrow lead, when used up, by a new lead of any color, or replacing the lipstick brush by a new brush.
Another object of my invention is to provide in the lipstick assembly means for ejecting the sliding cylinder used for carrying the lipstick proper.
Further objects and the advantages of my invention will be apparent from the following specification and claims and the appended drawings, which show, by way of example, preferred embodiments of my invention, and in which Figure 1 is a perspective view of the receptacle and ensemble according to my invention in assembled condition;
Figures 2-5 are also perspective views of the article illustrated in Figure 1; Figure 2 shows the cap and applicator in removed condition, while Figures 3, 4 and 5 illustrate the device in the condition ready for the use of the lipstick, lipstick brush and eyebrow pencil, respectively;
Figure 6 is a perspective view of the cap provided with a nail file, the cap being separated from the assembly and the nail file in operative position;
Figure 7 is a longitudinal sectional view on an enlarged scale through the assembly shown in Figure 1;
Figure 8 is a sectional view along line 8-8 of Figure 7, which, in combination with Figure 9, illustrates the operation of ejector for the lipstick holder;
Figure 10 is a longitudinal sectional view through the cap provided with a nail file.
Referring now to the drawings in detail, the ensemble illustrated in the drawings comprises a bottle, provided with an applicator, a lipstick, a lipstick brush, an eyebrow pencil and a can provided with a nail file. As best shown in. Figure 7. cap and applicator I, which is a combination applicator, stopper and cap, is interiorly threaded at 2 and is adapted to be screwed onto the protruding threaded portion of a cylinder 3 which holds a bottle 4. Part I is provided with an applicator 5 and a ring 6 of resilient material, such as rubber or cork, which acts as a stopper for the bottle when cap I is screwed onto cylinder 3. Cylinder 3 is frictionally held in a cylindrical extension 8 of a lipstick inner cylinder 1. The outer surface of this extension is flush. with the surface of part I. The outer lipstick cylinder 9 has a reduced diameter at its base end portion III, which fits into extension H of the lipstick inner cylinder 1; The outer surface of cylinder 9 is flush with that of extension 8. The other end of outer cylinder 9 is also of reduced diameter and it fits into and is frictionally held by a central cylinder l2, the cylindrical surface of which is flush with that of cylinder 9.
Part I may be removed by unscrewing in order to apply the liquid contained in bottle I.
If can i is screwed onto cylinder 3, these parts, including the lipstick, can be removed, as one piece, from central cylinder i2, as shown in Fig,
ure 3. If the base of the lipstick container is rotated by turning part 8, the lipstick I! can be advanced or retracted.
The lipstick brush I4 is contained in a small cylinder or handle l5 threaded on the inside. It is screwed onto a narrow. hollow extension i8 of the mechanical eyebrow pencil generally denoted i1, and its bristles or the like are barely in front of the lipstick container. At the tip of the brush cylinder or handle there is a slight,
drop bringing about a more pointed effect eniabling more accurate application of the brush.
The mechanical eyebrow pencil I1 is of cus tomary construction. It has a hollow cylindrical extension [9 at its base. This extension is exterlorly threaded at 20. The separate cylinder 2|, which holds the eyebrow lead 22 is fixed to this extension. The tip of the pencil fits smoothly against the rest of the pencil, which, when rotated, advances or retracts the eyebrow lead by means of a spiral cylinder 23 fixed in the tip, which fits around the lead cylinder.
The cap 2|- is threaded on the inside as shown at 25. It is adapted to be screwed onto the mechanical eyebrow pencil in substantially the same manner as the cap of a fountain pen onto a pen. Where a clip or clasp would appear on a fountain pen can, there is attached on can 24 a small nail file 2. The outer surface 21 of the as one piece, as shown. in Figure 4, and the lip stick brush may be applied in this condition orv with the cap 24 removed. The eyebrow pencil can be used by merely removing cap 24 and turn ing the base or body l9 of the pencil while it is still connected with central cylinder l2, as shown in Figure 5, or when the unit comprising the brush and pencil has been separated from the rest of the ensemble.
The lipstick unit used in the device shown is generally of the customary construction, in which the lipstick proper can be advanced or retracted by the action of a. longitudinal and a helical slot and a pin or the like, properly arranged in the lipstick parts, by turning the base. In order to eliminate the cleaning of the cylinder holding the lipstick, before refilling, and avoid soiling the hands, I use a new element connected with the outside cylinder of the lipstick container. In the embodiment shown, a projection 30 is arranged at the top of the outside cylinder of the lipstick container adjacent the spot where the spiral groove ends. This pinhead-like extension 30 tends to lessen the width of the spiral groove and acts as a stop for the pin of the sliding lipstick-holder. Slight additional exertion in turning the base of the lipstick container in the direction of advancing the lipstick is suillcient to force the sliding pin past the stop" and cause ejection of the sliding cylinder from the con tainer. (See Figures 8, 9.)
It will be understood that the lipstick may be advanced while still inside the connecting central cylinder l2 and may thus make contact with the lipstick brush, which it faces. This brush can, therefore, be used for re-touching the lipstick line without removing and applying the lipstick proper.
The advantages of the device according to my invention will be apparent from the above description and the drawings: The individual cosmetic appliances may be assembled in a device which has the size, shape and appearance of a fountain pen, and a substantially smooth cylindrical surface, and can be conveniently carried by the user; the device makes the straightening of lipstick lines possible without direct application of lipstick, and replacement of the lipstick without the necessity of soiling hands. The length of the assembled device may be "6" for example.
It will be understood that the nail file, which is attached to the cap in the embodiment shown, may be substituted by another vanity article in substantially the same manner and the mechanical eyebrow pencil may be replaced by another vanity article provided with a suitable extension to support the lipstick brush.
It will also be understood that the invention is not restricted to the details described above and shown in the drawing and may be carried out with various modifications without departing from the spirit and scope of the invention as defined inthe appended claims.
It is understood that the improved device may carry articles other than cosmetic articles, such as for example, stick medicaments, small acces- I sories and tools, brushes, paints, erasers, etc.
- to frictionally hold at one of its ends a first cylindrical cosmetic appliance telescopically fitting into said cylindrical member, while the other end of the latter is provided with acylindrical opening of reduced diameter, adapted to receive and frictionally hold a second cosmetic appliance which is connected with a third cylindrical appliance, said first appliance being provided with a cylindrical extension adapted to house a cylinder holding a container for liquid, this cylinder being adapted to receive at its end a first cap provided with an applicator for the liquid, said third appliance being adapted to receive a closure cap, the device comprising said first, second and thirdappliancethe central member and said first cap having a substantially flush surface in assembled condition.
2. In a device of the class described, an elongated, hollow cylindrical central member adapted to frictionally hold at one of its ends a lipstick container telescopically fitting into said cylindrical member, while the other end of the latter is provided with a cylindrical opening of reduced diameter adapted to receive and frictionally hold a lipstick brush connected with an eyebrow pencil, said lipstick container being provided with a cylindrical extension adapted to house a cylinder holding a container for liquid, this cylinder being adapted to receive at its end a first cap provided with an applicator for said liquid, said-eyebrow pencil being adapted to receive a closure cap, the. device comprising said lipstick holder, central member, lipstick brush, eyebrow pencil and said first cap, having a substantially flush surface in I assembled condition.
3. A device as claimed in claim 2, in which the first cap is interiorly threaded and adapted to be screwed to the cylinder housed by the extension of the lipstick container.
' 4. A device as clamed in claim 2, in which the closure cap is interiorly threaded and adapted to be screwed to the eyebrow pencil.
5. A device as claimed in claim 2, in which a nail file is hingedly connected to the closure cap,
one surface of said nail file being roughened and the other smooth.
6. A device as claimed in claim 2, in which a unit formed by the first cap, liquid container and lipstick, and a unit formed by the closure cap, eyebrow pencil and lipstick brush, are adapted to be removed as one piece from the rest of the assembly.
