Description
- The present application is related to and claims priority from prior provisional application Ser. No. 62/373,873, filed Aug. 11, 2016 which application is incorporated herein by reference.
- A portion of the disclosure of this patent document contains material which is subject to copyright protection. The copyright owner has no objection to the facsimile reproduction by anyone of the patent document or the patent disclosure, as it appears in the Patent and Trademark Office patent file or records, but otherwise reserves all copyright rights whatsoever. 37 CFR 1.71(d).
- The following includes information that may be useful in understanding the present invention(s). It is not an admission that any of the information provided herein is prior art, or material, to the presently described or claimed inventions, or that any publication or document that is specifically or implicitly referenced is prior art.
- The present invention relates generally to the field of cosmetics and more specifically relates to a cosmetic device comprising lipstick, mascara, eye shadows, and a mirror, all incorporated into a sleek, bullet-shaped casing with optional eyeliner being included to provide females with an easily portable, all-in-one unit that accommodates makeup needs while on the go.
- The first use of prototype cosmetics is usually traced back to the ancient Egyptians; many Egyptian tombs contained makeup canisters and kits. Cleopatra used lipstick that got its hue from ground carmine beetles, while other women used clay mixed with water to color their lips. At the dawn of the 20th century though, products that we would recognize today—lipsticks, mascaras, and eye shadows—began to emerge. In 1914, Max Factor, who provided wigs to Hollywood studios, developed a greasepaint foundation that wouldn't cake or crack. The greasepaint was popular with movie stars both onscreen and off, and it marked Factor's first major success in the cosmetic industry. Factor would go on to develop lip gloss and an eyebrow pencil, and he popularized the word “makeup.”
- In the 1920s, he began marketing his makeup to the public with the claims that they could look like their favorite movie stars. A few years earlier, in 1915, T. L. Williams started the Maybelline Company. Williams' sister, Mabel, had what he thought was an ingenious way to make her lashes look striking: she mixed petroleum jelly and coal dust. Williams distilled the formula into cake form and eventually found great success in selling it to the public, giving the world its first mascara. With rapidly improving products and persuasive marketing efforts, women were sold on makeup, and they haven't looked back since.
- Indeed, with so many different cosmetics to choose from, women are able to customize their makeup to fit any occasion, from light applications appropriate for the workplace to more splashes of color to enhance their features during a night out. As can be imagined, however, managing a vast array of makeup choices in today's busy and fast-paced world can prove challenging. Should one wish to go from a more natural look worn during the workday to a smokier presentation for meeting friends for drinks, she must carry a selection of different cosmetics with her at all times. If tubes of lipstick and mascara and boxes of eye shadow are not cluttering her purse, she usually has to cart around a veritable makeup kit just to choose a look or even just to freshen her makeup in the course of the day or night. Awkward and cumbersome, cosmetics management while on the go is a battle women fight on a daily basis.
- Various attempts have been made to solve problems found in cosmetic device art. Among these are found in: U.S. Pat. No. 8,156,949 to Albert et al.; U.S. Pat. No. 5,715,848 to Ralph F. Conley, Jr.; and U.S. Pat. No. 2008/0173324 to Jill Washington. This prior art is representative of multi-purpose cosmetic devices.
- Ideally, a cosmetic device should be user-friendly and safe in-use and, yet should operate reliably and be manufactured at a modest expense. Thus, a need exists for a cosmetic device comprising lipstick, mascara, eye shadows, and a mirror, all incorporated into a sleek, bullet-shaped casing with optional eyeliner being included to provide females with an easily portable, all-in-one unit that accommodates makeup needs while on the go and to avoid the above-mentioned problems
- In view of the foregoing disadvantages inherent in the known cosmetics art, the present invention provides a cosmetic device. The general purpose of the present invention, which will be described subsequently in greater detail is to provide a for a cosmetic device comprising lipstick, mascara, eye shadows, and a mirror, all incorporated into a sleek, bullet-shaped casing with optional eyeliner being included to provide females with an easily portable, all-in-one unit that accommodates makeup needs while on the go.
- A cosmetic device comprising: a main body having an outer wall, a first end, and a second end; a lipstick member; an ink well member; a mascara brush having a shaft portion and a brush portion; at least one eye shadow material; a first cover member; and a second cover member.
- The outer wall forms an internal volume; and the outer wall includes an outer surface having an outer surface depression forming at least one holding portion therein. The first end includes a cylindrical opening therein. The second end is opposite the first end and includes an opening therein.
- The lipstick member is adjustably connected within said cylindrical opening of said first end and adapted to adjustably extend outwardly from said cylindrical opening and from the main body when in use. The ink well member is located within the opening of the second end.
- The shaft portion of the mascara brush includes a proximal end located and slidably inserted within the opening of the second end. The brush portion of the mascara brush is attached to a distal end of the shaft portion end. The mascara brush is adapted to be stored within the opening of the second end and be extended outwardly therefrom when in use. The brush portion resides within the ink well member when in a stored position in between uses and adapted to retain ink thereon for use when extended outwardly therefrom.
- The at least one eye shadow material is located within a respective the at least one holding portion of the main body.
- The first cover member is removably attachable to the first end of said main body and adapted to cover and protect the lipstick member when in a stored position inside the cylindrical opening. The second cover member is removably attachable to the second end of the main body and adapted to cover and protect the mascara brush when in the stored position inside said opening.
- The present invention holds significant improvements and serves as a cosmetic device. For purposes of summarizing the invention, certain aspects, advantages, and novel features of the invention have been described herein. It is to be understood that not necessarily all such advantages may be achieved in accordance with any one particular embodiment of the invention. Thus, the invention may be embodied or carried out in a manner that achieves or optimizes one advantage or group of advantages as taught herein without necessarily achieving other advantages as may be taught or suggested herein. The features of the invention which are believed to be novel are particularly pointed out and distinctly claimed in the concluding portion of the specification. These and other features, aspects, and advantages of the present invention will become better understood with reference to the following drawings and detailed description.
- The figures which accompany the written portion of this specification illustrate embodiments and method(s) of use for the present invention, Cosmetic Device, constructed and operative according to the teachings of the present invention.
