Abstract

A lipstick holder is designed for retaining multiple rod-shaped cosmetic products. The lipstick holder will allow a user of cosmetics to conveniently carry and use multiple cosmetic products.

Description

    BACKGROUND OF INVENTION
  • 1. Field of Invention [0001]
  • The present invention relates to the field of cosmetic holder, in particular cosmetic holder that is uniquely designed to serve the purpose of holding multiple cosmetic products in a compact space and at the same time be attractive. [0002]
  • 2. Description of the Related Art [0003]
  • Lipsticks and lipstick holders have been around for a long time. These days it is very common and popular for users of cosmetics to carry multiple lipsticks generally with different colors. It is also common for users of cosmetics to carry in their purse or pocket lipsticks and a variety of other rod-shaped cosmetic products, e.g., mascara brushes and liquid eyeliners. It thus becomes increasingly desirable to have a cosmetic holder that is capable of organizing multiple cosmetic products in as little space as possible. As users of cosmetics also tend to live a stylish way, it is also desirable that such cosmetic holder is attractive. [0004]
  • It is aware that different cosmetic organizer or holder systems have been proposed for users to carry multiple cosmetic products at a same time. For example, U.S. Pat. Nos. 2,552,714 and 5,715,848. However, their design is far too complicated compared to a single lipstick and substantial spaces can be wasted when a substantial number of cosmetic products are not needed or used. Their complicated looking can also discourage a user to use such cosmetic holders. [0005]
  • It is noted that there was a proposed dual pen-holder (U.S. Pat. No. 6,022,159), however, the adjacent parallel design also has the disadvantage which makes it hard to remove a single pen out of the holder. Breidenbach et al also proposed a dual ended lip cosmetic applicator (US 2002/0071707 A1). However, that cosmetic applicator (e.g., FIG. 8 and FIG. 12 in US 2002/0071707 A1) bounds the holder and the cosmetic products, so even when only one end of the cosmetic product is used up or worn away, one may need to replace the whole cosmetic package and thus introduce wastes. [0006]
  • Therefore, there is a need for an improved cosmetic holder that is simple and capable of holding cosmetic products in as little space as possible. [0007]
  • BRIEF SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
  • It is an object of this invention to provide a cosmetic holder for holding multiple cosmetic products in a single compact package. [0008]
  • It is an object of this invention to provide a unique cosmetic holder for retaining multiple lipsticks or multiple rod-shaped cosmetic products in their individual capacity at its multiple ends. [0009]
  • It is an object of the invention to provide a cosmetic holder with two openings at two opposite ends for receiving dual cosmetic products. A related object of the invention is to provide a rod-shaped dual ended cosmetic holder for holding dual preferably rod-shaped cosmetic products. And the dual cosmetic products then, after being received by the cosmetic holder, appear like one single-piece rod-like cosmetic product. [0010]
  • A further object of the invention is to provide a cosmetic package for housing multiple cosmetic products, such that each one of the cosmetic products could be individually replaceable without changing the whole package. [0011]
  • The above and other objects, features and advantages of the present invention will become apparent from the following description and accompanying drawings. [0012]
  • BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE ACCOMPANYING DRAWINGS
  • FIG. 1 is a perspective view of one embodiment of the present invention showing the lipsticks secured within the lipstick holder. [0013]
  • FIG. 2 is partial longitudinal sectional view showing a dual ended lipstick holder of FIG. 1. [0014]
  • FIGS. [0015] 3-6 show cross-sectional view of alternative embodiments of the cross-section of the tube casing of the longitudinal lipstick holder in FIG. 2.
  • FIG. 7 shows an alternative embodiment of the separation wall of the lipstick holder in FIG. 2. [0016]
  • FIG. 8 is a partial longitudinal sectional view showing a dual ended cosmetic holder with one end housing a lipstick and the other end housing a mascara brush. [0017]
  • FIG. 9 shows an alternative embodiment of the mascara brush of FIG. 8. [0018]
  • FIG. 10 shows an alternative embodiment of the lipstick holder with a slightly curved exterior shape.[0019]
  • DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
  • Referring now to FIG. 1, there is illustrated a dual ended [0020] lipstick holder 10 with two lipsticks 20 and 20A secured within it at its two opposite ends. Generally, both of the lipsticks are press-fit into the lipstick holder. The lipstick holder 10 is preferably made of durable plastic, transparent or non-transparent, though it may be also made of other durable materials such as wood, metal, crystal and etc. The lipsticks 20 and 20A each may further include a decorator band 30 on their surfaces at the position where the lipstick meets or touches the lipstick holder 10. The lipstick 20 (FIG. 2) generally comprises a base 32, a lipstick protection sleeve 34 and a lip waxing stick 36 secured inside the lipstick protection sleeve 34. In accordance with the invention, lipsticks 20 and 20A preferably hold different colors of waxing sticks 36.
  • FIG. 2 shows a longitudinal sectional view of the structure of the [0021] lipstick holder 10, which is exemplified as a horizontally lied down “H” shape. The lipstick holder 10 comprises two bores 40A and 40B at the two opposite ends, formed by a tube casing 50 preferably divided by a separation wall 60. The tube casing 50 is open at two ends for receiving lipsticks 20 and 20A into the bores 40A and 40B respectively. The tube casing 50 of the lipstick holder 10 preferably has a continuously smooth exterior. The tube casing 50 also preferably has a straight rod-like exterior shape, though it may has slightly curved rod-shaped in an alternative embodiment.
  • The [0022] tube casing 50 of the lipstick holder 10 may have various embodiments for its cross-section. Some embodiments of the cross-section are exemplified in FIGS. 3-6.
  • FIG. 3 shows one embodiment of the [0023] tube casing 50 of a lipstick holder 10 with both square exterior and interior cross-sections. FIG. 4 shows a cylindrical tube casing 50 with both circular exterior and interior cross-sections. FIG. 5 shows a tube casing 50 with both hexagonal exterior and interior cross-sections. FIG. 6 shows a tube casing 50 with square exterior and circular interior cross-sections. Generally, the casing exterior of a tube casing 50 follows the same shape and contour of the base 32 of a lipstick 20, such that when a lipstick holder fits inside the lipstick holder 10, the whole piece consisting the lipsticks 20 and 20A and the lipstick holder 10 shows a smooth and consistent exterior surface.
  • The [0024] separation wall 60 of a lipstick cover 10 as shown in FIG. 2 may not necessarily be a flat wall. FIG. 7 shows an alternative embodiment of the separation wall 60 which is of vault shape (longitudinal cross-section view). When the tube casing 50 is made of transparent materials and the separation wall 60 becomes visible through the tube casing, it is then desirable to have a separation wall with a pleasing shape and thus the lipstick holder becomes attractive to buyers or users.
  • FIG. 8 illustrates an alternative embodiment of a [0025] cylindrical lipstick holder 10 with a bore 40A for receiving a lipstick 20 at one end and, a bore 40B for receiving another kind of cosmetic product, e.g. a mascara brush 70 at the other end. The bores 40A and 40B are separated by a separation wall 60. It is noted that the two bores 40A and 40B may have different shapes. The shapes of bores 40A-B depend on the shapes of the cosmetic products they received. It is also noted that some cosmetic products, e.g. mascara brushes or liquid eyeliners, generally require better and securer seal than press-fit. In such situation, the inner side of the tube casing 50 of the lipstick holder at the end of bore 40B may have threaded grooves such that the cosmetic products may tightly screw-fit into the bore 40B inside the casing tube 50.
  • FIG. 9 shows an alternative embodiment of the mascara brush in FIG. 8. This is to demonstrate that a cosmetic product, here in particular, a [0026] mascara brush 70 does not have to have a circular exterior cross-section shape in order to screw-fit into the bore 40B of the lipstick holder 10 in FIG. 8. In this exemplified sample, the mascara brush has a square exterior cross-section.
  • FIG. 10 shows an alternative embodiment of a rod-shaped dual ended [0027] lipstick holder 10 with a slightly curved shape.
  • Thus there has been provided a lipstick holder designed to simultaneously retain multiple cosmetic products. The lipstick holder is designed and constructed in a way such that when it holds dual rod-like cosmetic products, it appears as one single-piece rod-shaped cosmetic product. Such lipstick holder will allow a user of cosmetics to conveniently carry and use multiple cosmetic products. Such lipstick holder when provided with cosmetic products will allow a merchant to sell multiple cosmetic products at a same time. It is understood that the present invention is not limited to the exact construction illustrated and described herein, and variations and modifications may be readily occur to those skilled in the art without departing from the scope of the present invention.
