FIG. 7 is an exploded view of the unit as shown in FIG. 5.
FIG. 8 is an exploded view of another embodiment of the device showing the free ends of the bristles of the brush in a line vertical to the axis of the brush suitable for use as a lip liner or eye shadow applier.
FIG. 9 is an elevation of 'a brush where a spiral composed of bristles is used suitable for use as a mascara applier.
FIGS. 10, 11 and 12 are side elevations of three other embodiments usin-g felt instead of bristle tips.
In the embodiment illustrated in FIGS. 1 to 7 inclusive there is illustrated an outside container consisting essentially of the main container unit 1 having an outwardlyextending annular rib 2 adjacent the free edge 3 thereof. The container 1 is essentially cylindrical. The portion 4 between the free edge 3 and the rib 2 has an inwardlyextending projection 5 and a plurality of outwardly axially extending projections 6 preferably three in number substantially equally spaced from one another as shown in FIG. 4.
ice
The portion 7 of the container consists of 'a cap open at one end to telescopically fit on to the portion 4 frictionally held in place by the ribs 6 as shown in FIG. 2.
In the base 1 of the container there is provided the sup port or holder 8 composed of a plastic material such as acetate, butyrate or styrene or of a metal such as steel. This support 8 has a recess 9 at one side and a further recess 10 to receive a tray rather shallow as shown in FIG. 8 by the edge of the tray 11 which is similar to the tray used in the embodiment of FIGS. 1 to 7 inclusive.
If the unit is to be used as an eyebrow marker or liner, then the ingredient 12 in the tray consists essentially of a compressed cosmetic powder treated with a suitable coloring agent to satisfy the user.
On the other side of the support there is shown a third recess 13, see FIG. 6, to receive the brush 14 consisting essentially of the handle 15 shown as hexagonal in cross section with a plurality of bristles 16 secured to one end of the handle 15 by the ferrule 17. The edges 18 of the bristles are preferably inclined to the axis of the brush 14 as shown. The container parts consisting of the base 1 and cap 7 are preferably composed of a metal such as brass, steel, tinned steel, aluminum, molded plastic and the like.
The support or holder 8 is preferably composed of brass, a plastic material such as polyethylene, polystyrene, acetate or butyrate or a metal such as steel.
The handle 15 of the brush 14 is preferably composed of a material such as wood, a plastic material such as acetate, butyrate or styrene.
For securing the support 8 in the base 1 there is the slot having the portion 19 terminating in the inner free end of the support 8 and continuing in the portion 20, FIG. 5, which portion 20, see FIG. 3, continues in the axially extending portion 21. The slot portions .19, 20 and 21 receive the inwardly-extending projection 5. When inserting the support 8 in the base, the portion 19 of the slot initially receives the projection 5 which then passes into the portion 20 and finally into the portion 21.
In the embodiment illustrated in FIG. 8 the brush 22 also hexagonal in cross section has attached to one end thereof the bristles 23 by the ferrule 24. The bristles in this instance usable as a lip liner or an eye shadow producer have the edges 25 thereof formed in a line perpendicular to the axis of the brush 22.
In the embodiment shown in FIG. 9 instead of the bristles 23 of the brush 22 illustrated in FIG. 8 there is used a conventional spiral 26 attached to the handle 27 which handle 27 also may be conformed to advantage in a hexagonal cross section. The embodiment illustrated in FIG. 9 is preferably used as a mascara applier on eyelashes. The ingredients in the tray of the several embodiments of course will differ depending upon the use for which the device is intended.
The embodiment illustrated in FIG. 8 when used as a lip liner may have as the ingredients a cosmetic cream, ointment or composition of wax such as beeswax, carnauba wax, cocoanut oil, petroleum and coloring agents. Excellent results have been produced when the mascara ingredients consists of cocoanut oil, palm oil and sodium soap.
When the unit is to be used for applying mascara to the shadow producer, the ingredient is preferably a creamy charcoal treated with a coloring agent to produce various shades of black, blue, green, gray, brown and the like.
