Abstract

526,632. Hairdressing comb and curler. ROLLOCURL CORPORATION. March 23, 1939, Nos. 9180, 9182 and 9183. Convention dates, April 27, 1938, Jan. 7, 1939 and Feb. 18, 1939. [Class 131] A hairdressing tool comprises a mandrel, upon which the hair is curled, having a longitudinal slot from which a toothed insert is adapted to be projected for securing the lock of hair to be curled and to be retracted to enable the curl to be slid off the mandrel, and means for receiving one shank of a hairpin which is left in the curl. The toothed insert 16, provided with a finger piece 17 engaging slots 14, 15, fits into a slot 13 in a split casing 10, 11 and is connected to a flexible rod 18 controlled by a compression spring 20 so that the finger piece 17 engages one of the notches 21. 22 and a prong 25 engages one of the notches 23, 24 respectively. One shank 31a of the hairpin 31 fits into one of the slots 26, 27, open at 28, 29 for cleaning, and the other shank 31b is spread by the tapering end 30 of the casing to receive the coil of hair when slid off the mandrel. Various modifications are described in the Specification. Fig. 8 shows an extension 43 with a tapering hole 44 allowing the hairpin 31 to be revolved.
