Abstract
526,631. Hair-curling devices. ROLLOCURL CORPORATION. March 23, 1939, Nos. 9176, 9177, 9178, and 9179. Convention dates, April 27, 1938, Oct. 26, 1938, Dec. 7, 1938, and Feb. 18, 1939. [Class 131] In a hair curler wherein the hair is wound around a member 10 housing a comb 16 which is protrudable through a slot therein, the comb is pressed to the left by a spring 20 so that when it is moved inwards or outwards by shifting a finger-piece 17 in slots 14 a prong 25 on the comb locks into a slot 23 or 24. The coil of hair may be transferred to a hairpin held with one link 31a in a slot 26 or 27 in the member 10 and the other link 31b spread as shown in Fig. 4. The fingerpiece 40, Fig. 8, may operate in two directions, extending through slots in opposite walls of the member 10, and pin-and-slot devices 43, 45, 44, 46 may be used to lock the comb. Fig. 9 shows a spring 60 urging the comb 53 outwards, while the finger-piece 57 has an open slot engaging the pin, a spring latch 63 being movable to release the comb. In a modification, Fig. 14, the comb is locked in the inner and/or outer position by a spring-pressed plunger 102 engaging an enlarged aperture forming an extension of a slot 96 in the finger-piece 95. In other modifications, a spring-pressed ball or pin acts as the locking- device.
