Abstract

523,404. Spray-producers. FLETCHER, S. B. Jan. 2, 1939. No. 82. [Class 69 (iii)] In a nozzle for producing whirling spray the usual swirl plate is replaced by a member 2 comprising a lower circular portion and provided with angular slots 10 leading to an annular space 18 and an upper ring-shaped part 9 provided with tangential passages 11 leading to a whirl chamber 12. The member 2 is mounted in a nozzle comprising an inlet member 1, cap 5, washer 3 and centrally perforated spray plate 4. The member 2 may either be integral as shown or formed in two or three parts, and may be provided with a conical projection 17 directed towards the inlet and a dome shaped projection 16 in the whirl chamber. The member 2 may be provided with an axial passage which may be slightly tapered.
