Abstract
523,136. Photographic shutters. KODAK, Ltd. March 15, 1939, No. 8331. Convention date, March 16, 1938. [Class 98 (i)] The setting lever of a shutter sets a master member against the action of a power spring through a lost-motion connection which permits further movement of the lever after the master member has been latched by a trigger release. The effect of play in connecting members between the setting lever and film advancing means may be thereby eliminated. In the shutter shown, a master member 17 is rotated against the action of a spring 20 by a pin 25 operating in a radial slot in the power member and carried by the setting lever 7. At the end of the setting movement, in which the master member is latched by an arm 11 on the release trigger 5, the pin 25 rides on to the end face of a shoulder 24 on the master member, to the position shown, in which position lost motion may occur between the setting lever and the master member. In addition to being latched by the trigger arm 11, the master member is also latched by the engagement of the pin 25, with the end of the shoulder 24. The setting lever 7 is carried by an arcuate member 16 sliding in a similar slot 26 and having a lug 15 at its end which in the set position of the shutter engages an arm 12 of the trigger 5 so that when the trigger is operated it causes an initial movement of the member 16 and the setting lever which causes the pin 25 to unlatch the master member 17, and also reduces the inertia effect of the lever 7 and arcuate member 16 on the operation of the shutter.
