Abstract

497,316. Photographic cameras. KODAK, Ltd. June 14, 1937, No. 19790/38. Convention date, Oct. 30, 1936. Divided out of 497,266. [Class 98 (i)] In a camera having a film-winding key turned by an arm moving between two limiting positions, the releasing trigger of a setting-type shutter is locked, except when the shutter is set and the arm is in its normal position of rest, in which condition the trigger is unlatched by a member connected with the arm and adapted to actuate the shutter setting member. The invention is described with reference to a camera in which the winding. arm must make one complete movement in one direction as described in Specification 497,266 and in which the arm is locked until release of the shutter as described in Specification 497,315. As shown the arm 31 operates the spool shaft 23 through a one-way clutch and is located in its position of rest by engagement of a handle 38 with a seating 35 in the casing. The arm is connected by a flexible connection 55 to a slide 57 held by a spring 94. The shutter is of the type described in Specification 497,392 and comprises a setting member 74 which when released rotates under the action of a spring 84 to rotate a pivoted driving member 72 actuating the shutter mechanism through an arm 71 engaging a post 66. On moving the arm 31 to wind the film the slide 57 is drawn along by the connection 55 and a lug 76 thereon engages a post 75 on the member 74 which is thereby rotated until a lug 77 thereon is engaged by latch 78 pivoted to the trigger member 79. The trigger is connected by a member 90 to an arm 87 pivoted to the casing and having a lug 89 extending downwardly into a groove 85 in the member 72 so that unless the lug 89 is raised from the groove the trigger cannot be operated by its release 82. On returning the arm 31 to its normal position after winding the film, the slide 57 is drawn by the spring 94 until a cam surface 92 on the slide raises the arm 87 to release the lug 89 and permit operation of the shutter. Specification 497,301 also is referred to.
