[Class 38 (iv)] A supply system for a gas-filled discharge device, e.g., a lamp, having at least one thermionic main electrode, 2, 3 comprises an inductor 8 which is (1) part of the stability choke and in series with the remainder 4 of it, (2) part of the oscillating choke employed in a resonant starting-voltage circuit and in series with the remainder 6 (if any) of it, and (3) constitutes the primary of the transformer supplying heating current to the main electrode or electrodes. The stabilizing choke 4 may be magnetically coupled to the inductor 8 and transformer secondaries 9, 10.
