Abstract

522,399. Vehicle wheels. CONSTANT SPEED AIRSCREWS, Ltd., and MARSHALL, F. G. Dec. 8, 1938, No. 35752. [Class 144 (ii)] A wheel rim comprises a main portion a with a fixed side-flange a<SP>1</SP>, and a detachable flange a<SP>2</SP> which is fitted over studs e and secured by a locking-ring having key-hole slots g to cooperate with the headed ends of the studs. The ring, which is carried by the flange a<SP>2</SP> is locked in its operative position by means of a spring- latch n on a covering-disc c engaging between a pair of studs m on the locking ring. For shifting the latter in either direction relative to the flange a<SP>2</SP>, the latch n is first freed by means of a lever k, Fig. 4, having a forked end k' to straddle a pin l on the disc c and adapted to fulcrum against one or other of the studs m. According to the Provisional Specification the locking-ring may be provided with pins engaging slots in catches pivoted on the detachable flange, the catches being rocked to secure, or free, the flange; or, the locking-ring may be formed' with cam-slots engaged by pins on a series of sliding flange-locking bolts.
