Abstract

221,433. Walton, T. O. March 13, 1924. Locking nuts.-A nut locking device of the type in which a spring-pressed pin &c. is mounted in a recess in the nut parallel to the axis of the bolt, to engage in any one of a series of radial or other recesses in the work or in the face of another nut, and in which means are provided for operating the pin &c., comprises a pair of nuts 1, 2 and a spring-pressed locking pin 3 which is operated by a lever 6 pivoted intermediate its ends to the pin so that one end 7 acts as a fulcrum when the lever is raised to withdraw the pin to the unlocked position, and bears on the face of the nut to maintain the pin in this position. In the locked position the lever 6 lies flat against the face of the nut as shown in the Figure. A recess is provided in the face of the nut 2 to accommodate the lever, and radial recesses 9 are provided in the face of the nut 1 in which the locking pin 3 engages.
