Locking nuts. - In a lock-nut of the spring- pressed ball type means are provided for enabling the flocking ball d to be displaced by the engagement of a spanner with the nut in any position. The nut a engages a bolt c and is normally locked thereto by the ball d mounted in a hole f which is prolonged to accommodate a pin i and a ball k the periphery of which extends slightly beyond the side i of the nut. Bevelled pins p, q are elidably contained in holes l, m in the same plane as the hole f and communicating therewith, and abut against balls r, s having peripheries which extend beyond the sides n, o of the nut. The pins p, q are kept from turning by keys v, w, which engage keyways in the nut. Pressure from a spanner on any one of the balls k, r, s is transmitted to the ball d. In a modification the balls k, r, s, are integral with the pins j, p, q.
