Abstract

165,672. Wheatley, D. Y. July 10, 1920. Bolts.-A gudgeon-pin 5 is clamped in the split small-end of a connecting- rod by a bolt 7, which engages a recess 6 in the gudgeon-pin. A flat 10 on the head of the bolt engages a shoulder 11 on the connecting-rod, and the nut is locked by a split pin or otherwise. During insertion of the gudgeon-pin, the bolt is slackened and turned so that a recess in the bolt coincides with the bore of the small end. A slot 14 in the bolt permits insertion of a turning tool. In a modification the reness R is formed in the same side of the bolt as the flat 10.
