Abstract
522,158. Vehicle wheels. CONSTANT SPEED AIRSCREWS, Ltd., and MARSHALL, F. G. Dec. 2, 1938, No. 35120. [Class 144 (i)] A detachable wheel c is secured to the fixed hubflange b by means of a ring e carried by the wheel having key-hole slots f cooperating with headed studs d projecting from the flange b. The ring e, which is secured to the wheel by setscrews g engaging slots h in the ring, is locked in its operative position by means of a spring-latch n on the wheel engaging between a pair of studs m on the ring For actuating the ring e the latch n is first moved clear of the studs m by a lever i having a slotted enc k to straddle a pin l projecting from the wheelcentre. To prevent withdrawal of the lever except when the ring e is in it: operative wheel - locking .position, the lever is formed with a notch o which is engaged by a lip p on the ring in the inoperative position of the latter as shown in Fig. 4. According to the Provisional Specification, the locking-ring may be fitted with pins engaging slots in pivoted catches on the wheel co-operating with holes or slots in the axle-part ; or, the locking-ring is formed with cam-slots engaged. by pins on sliding-bolts which secure the wheel.
