Abstract

522,029. Flexible couplings. GENERAL TIRE & RUBBER CO. Dec. 2, 1938, No. 35155. Convention date, Aug. 1. [Class 80 (ii)] A flexible coupling for allowing both angular and parallel misalignment comprises an annulus 17 of rubber or rubber-like substance arranged between a boss 10 on one shaft and a ring 12 on the other. The annulus 17 is cut away at 18 and 19 leaving a comparatively narrow inclined web portion 20 and is preferably surface bonded to the boss 10 and ring 12 as by vulcanizing thereto. In a modification the ring 12 is coupled to a similar ring secured to the other shaft by a second annulus of rubber. And in a modification of this form the rings 12 have radial as well as cylindrical parts. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specifacation. 478,101.
