Convention date, Aug. 20, 1937, [Class 70] In an acid-proof cement consisting of potassium silicate solution, an acid resisting filler and a substance which reacts with the potassium, the silicate solution is one in which SiO2:H2O is greater than 1:3.5, preferably 1:2.5-3.0. The reacting substance is preferably one which forms a sparingly soluble compound e.g., potassium silicofluoride. Impermeability to liquids is increased by the addition of 2-4 per cent. of a silicic acid soluble in alkalies in the cold. Specification 488,992 is referred to.
