Abstract

Cleansing-agents without action on aluminium, tin, or their alloys consist of preponderating quantities of alkaline alkali phosphates mixed with compounds of aluminium or tin capable of reacting in aqueous solutions with the phosphates in such proportions that 1 per cent or stronger aqueous solutions do not attack aluminium or tin or their alloys at temperatures up to 90 DEG C. Specified compounds are aluminium hydroxide, sulphate, and chloride, and stannous chloride; when aluminium sulphate is the compound more than 20 per cent, preferably 25 per cent or more, is used. For example, 250 gm. of crystalline aluminium sulphate is mixed with 750 gm. of crystalline trisodium phosphate, or 250 gm. of stannous chloride with 750 gm. of calcined trisodium phosphate, and made up as a 5 per cent solution.
