Abstract
515,633. Electric condensers ; dielectrics. STEATITE & PORCELAIN PRODUCTS, Ltd., and CLARK, N. O. June 8, 1938, No. 17029. [Class 37] [Also in Group V] For obtaining ceramic dielectrics for electric condensers which will have zero firing coefficients (i.e., the temperature coefficient of dielectric constant is independent of the temperature of firing), mixtures of refractory substances with titanium oxide as base, containing substances of positive and negative firing coefficients are made. Steatite is an example of the former class and clay of the latter. By firing mixtures of zero firing coefficient and positive and negative temperature coefficient of dielectric constant, ceramics having both coefficients equal to zero may be obtained. An example of a mix is in titanium dioxide 28.0 per cent., witherite 5.0 per cent., steatite 27.5 per cent and clay 39-5 per cent. Magnesia and alkaline earth metal may also be added.
