[Class 37] [Also in Group V] An electric condenser has, as dielectric, a sintered ceramic mixture composed substantially of titanium dioxide and beryllium oxide. The mixture may be made more plastic before firing by adding small quantities of clay, kaolin or soapstone. The dielectric constant obtained is higher than with comparable mixtures of titanium dioxide and magnesium oxide, while the angle of loss is very low. The dielectric constant of the material has a negative temperature coefficient, which varies according to the relative proportions of the ingredients, and condensers or circuits, e.g. oscillatory circuits, may thus be made to have a negative or a zero temperature coefficient. The material may be readily fused to glass.
