Abstract
Electrical insulating material is made by firing a mass comprising a large proportion of talcum or soapstone and from 2 to 10 per cent of magnesian spinel preferably in the form obtained by electrical fusion. Clay, barium oxide or other alkaline earth material, and zirconium oxide up to 10 per cent may be added. In an example, a raw ceramic mass comprises 84 parts of soapstone, 7 of magnesian spinel, 7 of clay and 2 of calcium carbonate. Other examples containing barium oxide and zirconium oxide are given.
