Abstract
511,273. Closets. TWYFORDS, Ltd., and BAILEY, E. H. March 20, 1939, No. 8754. [Class 26] A closet basin 2 has a cistern 1 fitted directly thereon and has two traps 4, 5, and an air extraction pipe 17 extending from the space between the traps into the tank and discharge conduit so that air is extracted from the space between the traps during the flush. In the form shown the pipe 17 is screwed into the bush 14, fixed in a hole of the chamber 8, and supports the conical piece 18. A hole 21 is provided in the pipe. The pipe 17 also supports on a frame 24 a tube 22 which fits within the bottom leg 11a of the siphon 10. This enables the cistern and siphon to be lowered over the tube 22. When the siphon flushes the water causes a suction up the pipe 17 and extracts air from the chamber 13 and so helps the siphon discharge of the basin. The conical piece 18 may have a hollow head that is connected directly to the pipe 17 and has a lower outlet to the tube 22. This tube 22 may have one or more constrictions 25 to increase the suction. As shown in Fig. 8, the tube 22 may be connected directly with the siphon 10, and in a modification, Fig. 9, the pipe 17 may fit within the siphon leg 11a without the necessity of tube 22, guides 35 serving as support.
