Abstract
502,333. Sanitary closets. BOLDING & SONS, Ltd., J., and FARRANT, W. J. Sept. 16, 1938, No. 27055. [Class 26] In a syphonic-discharge water-closet of the kind in which the syphonic action is initiated by the extraction of air from the space 4 between two outlet traps by means of an air pipe in communication with the flush pipe, the air pipe 9 surrounds the flush pipe 16, or a portion of it. In the construction shown, the air and flush pipes form a self-contained fitting extending between the flushing cistern and the closet basin, in which the flush pipe 16 extends a part of the way down the pipe 9, forming an annular air-space 18 connected by a pipe 19, sleeve 20, and spigot 7 to the space 4. The space 18 communicates over the top of the pipe 16 with the interior of the pipe and is subjected to the ejector action of the water delivered into the latter from a nozzle 12. The lower part of the tube 9 forms a continuation of the flush pipe, and delivers to a chamber 5 integral with the basin and having outlet apertures 5a. Specification 485,809 is referred to.
