Abstract
519,531. Sanitary closets. GROENIGER, W. C. Sept. 12, 1938, No. 26621. Convention date, Sept. 11, 1937. [Class 26] A hinged seat for a closet is provided with a water flow passage having a plurality of orifices to discharge water against the upper inner sides of the bowl of the closet, the passage being connected with a source of flushing water provided in or on the bowl structure and attached to or integrally formed with the seat. In the form shown, the flush rim channel 18 is integral with the hinged seat 16, is provided with orifices 20 and communicates with a feed pipe 26, the opening 26a of which registers with an opening 30 in the wall 12 of a water supply channel 11 when the seat is in the lower position. A rubber or other gasket 32 is secured to the end of the pipe 26 and a projecting wall 39 prevents the splashing of water from the orifice 30 beyond the bowl 10. Openings connecting the channel 11 with the atmosphere may be provided in the part 12, such springs also directing one or more jets of water on to the surface of the bowl 10. The main supply of water to the bowl 10 for the channel 11 is through the jet 34. In other forms the flushing rim may be separate from the seat and secured thereto by means such as screws or may be in the form of a pipe with perforations mounted within the seal.
