Abstract

510,618. Cable end sleeves. CALLENDER'S CABLE & CONSTRUCTION CO., Ltd., DAVIES, P. J. K., and PRESSWELL, R. W. Feb. 8, 1938, No. 3944. [Class 36] A device for sealing the end of a single-core leadsheathed cable comprises a tubular insulator 1 having at one end a removable cap 2 and a lateral outlet for a conductor 10, and being externally threaded and tapered at the other end to engage an internallythreaded tapered sleeve 3, the flared end of the cable sheath 4 being gripped between the tapered surfaces of the insulator and sleeve. The outlet for the conductor 10 comprises a radial groove in the end of the insulator continued in a longitudinal groove 12 in the outer surface thereof beneath the cap. The outer surface of the insulator may be ribbed, Fig. 2, or stepped, Fig. 5.
