[Class 35] A magneto, particularly for cycles has four or more stator core limbs extending parallel or approximately parallel to the axis of rotation and adjacent to the periphery of a cylindrical magnetised rotor the winding being disposed over those parts of the core limbs which extend beyond the magnet in such a way that every second core limb is embraced thereby. In the form shown, the armature core comprises packets of U-shaped laminae 7 with limbs placed together as in Fig. 3 and clamped by plates 12, 14 and bent strips 15. The free ends of the core limbs extend over the hollow cylindrical magnet 2 and a single winding 13 is disposed about the other ends of the limbs in such manner that it embraces alternate limbs.
